Lisa Hu, a portrait and documentary photographer, has been juggling
her seven-day-a-week job in a snack bar.
Over the past five years, she successfully completed two photography courses.
For two decades, she grappled with a question:
“ does she feel more at home in China or
in the Netherlands? ”
In the recent years, she discovered the answer:
” my true home is in the realm of photography. “

During the past four years, Lisa has visited 25 first-generation Chinese migrant women in the Netherlands, hailing from diverse sectors and age groups.
With a feminine and comprehensive perspective, supported by interviews, she captures these women, paying special attention to their Chinese identity in a Dutch environment. They are here, yet always there; they experience a dual connection.
Out of this, Lisa has created her
first self-published photography book,
<< A Proper Place >>. Feel free to contact her to purchase a copy.
